It was a cold windy afternoon in Hammerfest, Norway. For all practical purposes one would imagine that the assembly in the room each one hovering over cups of hot coffee, tea after a nice luncheon of stew, meatballs, cheese, bread and salad would discuss some aspects of global business and then the conversation would veer towards the plan for the evening, how cold the night is likely to get.
The Global CEO walked to the head of the room and gently removed the flap covering the display from the LCD projector…
“Let me introduce you to our new production platform” …..FinxS as it would be christened in time to come.
Slowly and surely, with the tone of a master, the words weighted in wisdom, the descriptions detailed in many hours of toil, Jukka Sappinen took us through the blue prints of the platform, the current state of development and the launch plans for the not so distant future.
The mood in the room changed in almost a theatrical manner, from a state of imagined predictability to a stunned disruption of possibilities… I think the only question each person had in their minds was, when will the platform – FinxS, go live for production.
The features, the nuances, the customisation, the libraries, the intricacies, the simplicities, the denominators, the possibilities, the expansions and the simplifications, the umbrella of options and the stand alone opportunities- put my head in a tail spin.
Being just about a year old to the Extended DISC world and not even having explored the full capabilities of all the tools that were on offer in the traditional set up, one got a chance to think in a fast forward mode… almost as if being thrown into a Formula one racing track from a bumper car set up in a secure and gated ring.
